Strategic Research
The Strategic Research group is responsible for the overall execution of the organization’s strategic initiatives which include working with Government and other stakeholders on developing and strengthening UCLA’s research enterprise; raising its local, national and international profile, facilitating investment and partnering opportunities, undertaking activities related to the attraction, development and retention of the faculty, and ensuring that UCLA Strategic Research maintains the highest possible level of organizational effectiveness and accountability.
Strategic Research is organized to reflect an approach to the research enterprise within a thematic framework. Research themes or clusters serve as a powerful organizational focus and encourage the convergence of intellectual interests and strengths of UCLA’s broad discipline base. At UCLA we have defined six broad multidisciplinary foci on campus where we are focusing our efforts.
- Nanosystems
- High Performance Computation and Visualization
- Arts and Entertainment
- Social Inequities and Solutions
- Climate Change, Clean Energy and Sustainability
- New Frontiers in Medicine
The mission of Strategic Research Planning is to support the development, implementation and convergence of research projects within these themes.
